Project 1 Revision

The Texts

  • Itai Halevi, "Rhetorical Situations, an Introduction"

  • Tara J. Yosso and Rebeca Burciaga, "Reclaiming Our Histories, Recovering Community Cultural Wealth"

  • Your chosen text that represents your chosen local community

The Task

Now that you've engaged in rhetorical analysis of your chosen community's public-facing text, you will revise your draft by accounting for community cultural wealth. You will do this by considering two new central questions:

  • Based on your profile of your chosen community and your rhetorical analysis of your chosen text, what forms of community cultural wealth does this community value?

    • How do you know? Be sure to support your claims with thorough analysis and textual evidence

  • What forms of community cultural wealth do you or would you bring into this community?

    • How do you see your specific knowledges, perspectives, and experiences contributing to this community's development?

Once you have thought through these questions, write an audience-facing revision in which you present both your rhetorical understanding of your chosen text and your critical understanding of the role that community cultural wealth plays in your chosen community.
